Abkhazia is preparing to sign an agreement on friendship and cooperation with the self-proclaimed republic of Transdniestria, Abkhaz president Sergei Bagapsh told journalists in Sukhumi on Friday.
"Transdniestria and Abkhazia already signed an agreement during the Georgian-Abkhaz armed conflict in 1993, but the new situation demands a new agreement," Bagapsh said.

The number of agreements Abkhazia has signed with Russian regions has recently increased, he noted. "such agreements were signed with the Krasnodar region, the Rostov region, Adygea and Karachayevo-Cherkessia," Bagapsh said.

"Abkhazia is to sign an agreement on cooperation with the Moscow region in the near future," he said.
