The Moldovan-Russian relations lack sincerity, President Vladimir Voronin Wednesday told a press conference, adding that Moscow and Chisinau will overcome “the barrier of disinformation which was artificially built between the two states by certain structures”.
The bilateral relations between the two states reached a new phase, characterized by lack of sincerity, President Voronin stated at the conference on the results of 2005. “Each contradiction between Moldova and Russia is a source of sadness for our country. I say this not only as president of the country but also as leader of the party that helped Russian culture and Russian language regain its position in Moldova and that contributed the most to the creation of a modern contractual basis for the relations between the two countries,” the head of state said. Yet, he voiced hope that the lack of sincerity and the barrier of disinformation will be overcome. The official Chisinau did not take any anti-Russia actions. On the contrary, it increased the number of Russian language schools and Russian groups at universities. Russian media is dominating the media market, while Russian speakers have equal rights with other ethnic groups, Moldovan President stressed. “We suppose the Moldovan – Russian relations were worsened by the organization of democratic parliamentary elections, which some Russian “specialists” tried to hinder, or maybe by the fact that Moldova wants the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transdniestria,” Voronin concluded. - Reporter.MD
