NATO has no intentions to decide on Russian navy's stay in Ukraine

KIEV, (RIA Novosti, Taras Burnos) - NATO has no intentions to decide on the status of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine, NAT'sSecretary-General said at a meeting here with military teachers, cadets and children.
"This questions should be resolved solely between Ukraine and Russia," Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said. "NATO does not have and does not want to have a say on this issue." Ukraine and Russia signed agreements in 1997 defining the status and the terms of the Russian Black Fleet's stay in the Crimea, Ukraine, until 2017.
But the agreements did not ease concerns the country has repeatedly voiced.
Scheffer also said that NATO did not intend to participate directly in the settlement of the self-proclaimed Republic of Transdniestria in Moldova.
Russia and Ukraine have been the guarantors for the peaceful settlement of the 1992 armed conflict between Moldova and the Transdniestrian region.
