The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, will visit Moscow, Moldova and Ukraine from 17 to 19 October to discuss a number of key issues in preparation for the December Ministerial Council.

One key issue on the Minister's agenda is to discuss in all three capitals the possibility of bringing fresh impetus to the settlement process of Moldova's Transdniestrian region and the withdrawal of Russian arms and ammunition from this area. He also plans to talk about the elections in Transdniestria. On the first leg of his trip, the Chairman-in-Office will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on 17 October.

He will then travel on to the Moldovan capital, Chisinau, on 18 October, for talks with President Vladimir Voronin and Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan. On the same day, Minister Rupel will also travel to Tiraspol to meet the Transdniestrian leadership.

The Chairman-in-Office will conclude his trip on 19 October with a visit to Ukraine, where he plans to meet President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov and Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk.

Media representatives are invited to attend the Chairman-in-Office's joint press conference with Foreign Minister Lavrov, which will take place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow at 15.40 on 17 October.

A joint press conference with Foreign Minister Stratan of Moldova will take place in the conference room of the Foreign Ministry in Chisinau at 17.40 on 18 October.

So far, no press conference has been scheduled during the Chairman-in-Office's visit to Kyiv on 19 October. However, such an event might be announced at short notice locally.
