The Russian government has resolved to render financial humanitarian aid worth over $50m to support the budget-funded and pension sectors of Transnistria's economy, the Presidential Envoy of the breakaway Transnistrian Moldovan Republic in Russia Yury Ganin told journalists in Tiraspol today. Russia is expected to transfer five tranches of $10-11m each to Transnistria. Ganin noted that the money would be used to cover the state's social liabilities, such as paying salaries to state employees, pensions and social benefits.
Compensations to employees of Transnistrian industrial enterprises will be handled by enterprises. These expenses will be later reimbursed through a special loan obtained from Russia, which will be paid off by the Transnistria government. Thus Transnistrian enterprises are to receive non-repayable financial aid from the state.
