The coordinating council of a Transnistrian anti-blockade NGO association has called upon Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase the Russian peacekeeping contingent in the region to 2,400 personnel.

After drawing away from negotiations, Moldova has resorted to unilateral actions and has kept putting pressure on Transnistria, while its economic and political measures over the past two months have brought about excessive damage totaling hundreds of millions of dollars, the document reads.

Similar addresses have been sent to both chambers of Russia's Federal Assembly.
